Staff Members of the SACIDB

Whilst the authority and planning for the South Australian citrus industry is conducted by the Board Members, the day-to-day functions of the Citrus Industry Act (2005) are executed by the Board staff. The current staff wholly funded by the Board consists of:
  • Andrew Green - Executive Officer
  • Heather Pedersen - Finance, Administration and Promotions Officer
  • Michelle Diehl - Administration Assistant
  • Samantha Rogers - Supply Chain Liaison Officer
Other staff of the Board funded partially or wholly by external sources include:
  • Kym Thiel - SA Value Chain Co-Ordinator
    (jointly funded by CA, SACIDB and CGSA)
Find below a brief biography of each staff member's background and industry experience.
 

 

Andrew Green

Andrew Green B.Ag.Sc.(Hons), Grad.Dip.Mgmt. -  Chief Executive Officer

Andrew has been with the Board for more than 19 years. He has always had a strong R & D focus and is a veteran when it comes to liaison between various industry sectors and researchers, both locally and overseas.

Over many years Andrew has helped the State to aggressively seek its fair share of R & D activities and has facilitated programs crucial to our export markets.

Andrew provides input on many general management and industry strategies, ranging from overseeing state and national promotional programs, lobbying government on retention of existing pesticides and fast tracking new ones, dealing with food safety legislation, providing information on water issues and fruit fly management as well as compiling submissions to support retention of the single desk marketing arrangement to the US

 

 

Heather Pedersen

Heather Pedersen - Finance, Administration and Promotions Officer

Heather joined the Board in July 2009 and is responsible for the finance and administration activities of the Board.  She also co-ordinates promotional activities for the Industry, encouraging everyone to buy South Australian Citrus. To this end, the Board is able to offer fresh oranges, at no charge, to community-based, non-profit organisations, schools, sporting clubs, healthy eating groups, etc. that can be handed out to participants at events / functions to promote healthy eating to all ages.

The Board has a mascot "Ossie Orange" who is available for groups to use at such events at no charge.   

Also available is a range of educational and promotional material, including magnets, recipes, book marks, etc that can be used as hand-outs to give to children, etc and decorate areas such a classrooms, display booths, etc.

 

Michelle Diehl

Michelle Diehl -  Administration Assistant

Michelle joined the Board in November 2011 and provides administrative and reception assistance.

Michelle has over 20 years experience in the areas of administration support, customer service, data management and general accounting. She has handled a broad range of jobs and responsibilities in the past and will no doubt be an asset to the SACIDB and broader SA Citrus Industry. Michelle will assist the SACIDB with collection and distribution of critical industry and market information along with other general support to help deliver outcomes against the Board's 9 core areas under its strategic plan.

Kym Thiel

Kym Thiel B.App.Sc.(Ag.) - Value Chain Co-ordinator / Export Market Liaison

Kym currently holds the position of Value Chain Co-ordinator- Export Market Liaison and is based in Berri, South Australia.  Kym has been the Citrus Industry Development Officer  working with all sectors of the industry including growers and packers in South Australia.  Kym has been heavily involved in promoting best practice to growers through traditional extension methods including field days and grower workshops.

He has also been a key player in introducing new technologies and management systems to the growing sector. The Riverland Citrus Industry is a heavily export orientated industry.

Prior to this Kym was with PIRSA in Loxton, as a Property Management Planning officer. Kym has a strong practical background as he is also involved in a family business growing and managing citrus and Avocados in the Riverland.

Kyms position is funded through a partnership involving SACIDB, CGSA, CA and HAL
